firing a missile at a spysat

It is curious that the latest event of the military announcing that it will launch a conventional navy missile to bring down the malfunctioning spy satellite comes at a time where Russia and China are trying to get the US to ban weapons in space. If the US had a more sophisticated way of bringing down the satellite through some of the classified programs over the years such as a laser, I would imagine they would do this in secret and not even be telling the public about it. Is the public announc… Continue

Obama on Space

The recent news that Barak Obama would delay NASA's current Human Moon missions by a few years came as good news to me. While I would rather he said he would just cancel the program outright, this move would hopefully end the program although I don't see Congressmen who represent Florida, Alabama, and Texas, letting him delay or cancel the program. Obviously it is not that I see this news as positive because I don't want us to get back to the Moon, rather it is because I don't see the current Ap… Continue

Space Solar Power Consortium?

http://www.vnunet.com/business-green/analysis/2202907/space-solar-power-closer-think

Anyone heard anything about this? With solar power on Earth making great inroads recently, beaming it from large stations directly from Space may finally be taken seriously as signficant investments in such a system seem close.

Impact of Discovery of Intelligent Life

While most people would agree that there is at least some intelligent life on this planet, what will be the impact on our society if intelligent alien life is discovered? With new planets being discovered outside our solar system more frequently than ever before, and with the addition of new telescopes and technologies about to become operational that can search for signs of life in the Universe, we as a society need to study and come to a consensus on the approprite reaction to such an event if… Continue

Asian Space Race

First Japan, now China, and soon India. The Space Race is alive and well. Now add private U.S. companies and a renewed Russian government push and things are getting excited in the space world.

Anyone at the X-Cup this week? Please post about what you saw and heard there for your fellow Planet Spacers' to read about.

Thanks Ken...glad you liked my website. Just finished a project in my home studio, on cloth, approx. 8' x 8', a random starfield with thousands of glowing twinkling stars, a few "shooting stars" and a 5' long section of our view of The Milky Way. The piece came out great and it reminded me how flexible large portable canvasses can be.

Thank you Rip. And I visited your website and was amazed as to how beautiful your work is. I encourage everyone to visit his site to see how beautiful it is. I used to have glow in the dark stickers on my bedroom ceiling as a child. The amazing art you have created goes beyond what I thought was available today and could be done. Thanks for letting me know that you provide this service!
